A Newborn Baby Hat Using the Magic Loop Technique

This pattern is the vehicle to introduce you to the “Magic Loop Technique”
Materials Needed
    -Approximately 125 yards of yarn suitable for a baby hat
    -A circular needle (a minimum of 32 inches, preferable 40 inches) suitable for your yarn selection. 
    -Two double-point needles  (same size as your circular needle)


Pattern:

Cast on 68 stitches. Join in the round careful not to twist the stitches.

Knit 46 rounds. The first 8 rounds will roll and automatically curl towards the outside.

Begin decrease rounds:
Round 1: *(k6, k2tog), repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2. (60 stitches)

Round 2: knit the whole round.

Round 3: *(k5, k2tog), repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2. (52 stitches)


Round 4: Knit the whole round.

Round 5: *(k2tog), repeat from * for whole round.  (26 stitches)


Round 6: * (k2tog), repeat from * for whole round. (13 stitches)

Round 7: *(k2tog), repeat from * to last stitch, k1. (7 stitches)

Round 8: k1, k2tog 3 times. (4 stitches)

Arrange all 4 stitches on a  double point needle(s) and work an I-Cord for  inches. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. Thread the tail down the center of the I-Cord. Tie the I-Cord into an overhand knot.
